On visuals alone, Bleaklow is notable for its innovative packaging and for taking the generally disposable 3" cdr and making it worth collecting. Consisting of the Manchester based duo of Dave (guitar) and Olie (double bass), Our Beautiful Ridiculous Plan make a fine, off the cuff, folk/blues/jazz mess. The two play off each other quite nicely and combine improvisation and composition well. Their overall approach to music is similar to the acoustic endeavors of a bunch of those American post-rockers that decided to wander off into the lone hills of forgotten Americana with a with just enough free-music spasms to keep the mood light and fun. As I alluded to, this 3" comes in a nicely crafted paper box, which suggests that much thought/time/energy was expended to make sure the project came off 'just right'. Thankfully, Dave & Olie took as much care with the music the box houses. A wonderful little diversion... I wanna hear more. 8/10 -- Chris Jacques (28 June, 2006)
