This 3-song EP from NYC transplant (via McMinnville, Oregon) Kara Suzanne (Stover) and her quintet of Gojo Hearts opens with the high-stepping, shit-kicking, hee-hawing, goodtime country rock of ?Eleven.? Putnam Murdock?s pedal steel weeps along with the late-night, tearjerking ?I Promise,? which carries a lilting, Cowboy Junkies vibe as Kara comes on like a heartbroken cross between Margo Timmons and Emmylou Harris. This little pleasing teaser of an EP concludes with the breathy, emotional, yet satirical ?Congratulations.? This EP is a pleasant little diversion that suggests the band is worthy of further investigation, and we look forward to that debut full length. 8/10 --
