When I tried out for a Foxy Digitalis writers position nobody really asked me if I could handle the sound of nails going up and down a blackboard. If they had done that I would?ve probably said I don?t really mind it. Which is why they?d have sent me a copy of ?Freckle Wars?, a blistering two boy guitar attack stroking right up and down the thighs of the treble gods. I don?t mind it, I don?t really care for it either. I sure as hell wouldn?t buy the damn thing.
Ecstatic Sunshine remind me of ?70s yo-yo artists. The 70s being the time when the ballbearing technique was introduced and the art of yo-yo-ing got more complex than ever. It?s pretty great how they manage to throw their yo-yo?s in such impressive fashion, it?s really hard practice and all that but you just don?t look at such a thing for half an hour. It?s much more fun doing it yourself. So what we have on ?Freckle Wars? are all instrumental guitartunes. They?re high up in the treble zone and if you listen closely you can perhaps hear them dueling.
They aren?t fighters though. They?re lovers who engage in some wrestling as teasing. They?re pinching eachother in the sides and start giggling. It?s cute but it?s boring, it?s fun but it?s ultimately shallow and although not anyone can do this, I wonder why anyone would even try. 4/10 --
