Gabriel Paiuk is a composer and pianist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. He describes ?Res Extensa? as ?a tape piece based on the superposition and juxtaposition of different layers of sound 'registers'.? The sounds are taken from numerous sources, but are all from our everyday audio life. Over it's 40 minute run time, ?Res Extensa? includes the hum of electronics, chirping digital jitters, washes of white noise, assorted found sounds and long sections of near silence. If you listen to it on speakers, it all blurs together into background sound, but even on headphones it's still not particularly compelling. 3/10 --
