First things first. Yeah, these guys can play. And they can also write catchy songs. Everything here is certainly musical. But there's something just middling about this set of acoustic songs, whether it be the resolutely adult contemporary feel or coffee house allure, that's off-putting. Whatever it is, I can't get past the maturity factor here. Fine songs as far as songs go. Excellent vocals, perhaps even anachronistic as far as Steinhart is concerned, where he may have found himself perfectly at home in Fairport Convention. Though everything here is tight and full of hooks, it ultimately lacks grit?even when irony is full flight. Were radio worth a shit, it'd find its polished way there. 5/10 --
