The 23's are from Dusseldorf, and Karaoke Kalk are releasing their debut album. As far as any other information about this group, your guess is as good as mine.
The only clues provided are the cover artwork (a beachfront resort and some palm trees) with a few phrases in small print ("a great escape", "ultra chilled electronics", "subliminal", "a soundtrack album") and the track titles. First off the bat, the song "Sweatshirts + Sweatshops" sounds far prettier than you'd expect from it's title, with its gentle melody and analog synth sounds. Things get a bit more mysterious with the following tracks, "Quiet City" and "Shadow Music", which are a lot closer to their titles than the first track. The album continues this way, slightly building up tension and release from track to track, but still maintaining a bit of mystery to it, as if this whole beachfront paradise thing is too good to be true, and there's something behind it all. 6/10 --
