Nackt Insecten’s about going to start appearing on a lot of radars thanks to this piece of vinyl, this is a pretty-much faultless piece of Glasgow-based 70s-sourced psychedelic futurism. “Quantum Odyssey” rides drone routes that play out in the very edges of analogue that lie the closest to disintegration, melodies lazing inches from the spinning meteors of Saturn’s loop. Occasionally these cracks rupture into short-lived but boiling feedback, most noticeably on the opening “Sabbath’s Head”, but it’s the album’s swirls of colour around its melodies that always win out. There are touches here and there of the processed psych routes still blazed by acts like Astral Social Club and Ashtray Navigations, but Nackt Insecten keep their sound clearer and more stable than their peers. 9/10 --
