Ben Reynolds "How Day Earnt Its Night"

Damn you Great Koonaklaster! You really did set the bar too high! Ruining it for all your successors all the while peacing out 20 years too early for your time so we gotta dig endlessly for those original lps and settling for ok-to-average new age finger pickers to get our live fix. DAMN YOU GREAT KOONAKLASTER!

Hey Ben I bet you've heard it all before. That you remind me of Fahey shit. Lucky you man because your doing it right and your not tiringly trying to fix something that doesn't need fixing. Leave that to those ok-to-average new age assholes to try and figure out while they figuratively spin around on their royal thumb preaching themselves the new second, third, fourth-coming.

Whats even better is you have Tompkins Square in your court. That label has history brother! Your standing in the shadows of Bassho, Crandell, and Walker! And they must of known when they heard your beautifully stark American Primitive-esqe with a touch Jansch tongue-in-cheek swing that they had something real bright here.

Friends "How Day Earnt Its Night" is a no joke album. Mr. Reynolds brings forth a beautifully done album that doesn't try and reinvent the solo finger picked genre. Highly recommended and bound to be held in the same esteem as those old Takoma albums someday. Who's going to pony up the cash and bring this man stateside so we can enjoy him ourselves?!? 9/10 -- Darryl Norsen (8 July, 2009)

Ben Reynolds 2005 has most undoubtedly been a huge year for British artist, Ben Reynolds. After making his solo debut late in 2004, he has been hammering out new releases on a monthly basis it seems. Reynolds is also playing with Leeds stalwarts Ashtray Navigations and doing various other collaborations with the mighty Andy Jarvis. This makes us very lucky beings... feature :: by Brad Rose (25 July, 2005)
