The Liquid Visions are a German group arriving with all the expected psychedelic clich?s: eastern tinged rhythms (complete with sitar), a barrage of effects (including theremin), mellower trance grooves and good old fashioned extended jams, making Germany?s F?nfundvierzig (with a roster featuring such dependable ensembles as Escapade, Acid Mothers Temple and Marble Sheep) a fine platform for the heavy psych that comprises "From the Cube." And I?m happy to report?despite an overt familiarity that borders on the retro?genuine chops, invention and a distinctive melodic sensibility acquit them nicely. Top moments: the extended acid jam, ?Pink Cloud,? which combines mellow psych grooves and endless layered guitar duals to glorious effect; the building dark psych of ?Moonspell,? which sounds a lot like an intentional homage to the first Monster Magnet album (a good thing!). 7/10 -- Lee Jackson (11 June, 2005)
