The Lamb Called Light is the duo of Clay Ruby and Theresa Behran performing some kind of Christian folk rituals. I didn't know Clay was such a spiritual guy, but hey - if this is what comes from his beliefs, color me happy. The Lamb Called Light offer simple meanderings to the altar of whimsy. Scrapes and rattles accent the guitar and vocals which make up the bulk of this release. Behran has a beautiful voice that, at times, is reminiscent of Joanna Newsom's wholesome crawl. Tracks like "Lead Thou Me" and "Part of the Plan" are the true standouts. Bent trees hang over the proceedings, guiding the duo through the murk and to the heavens. Behran and Ruby sing in unison. It's beautiful. This jangly, folk rhythms are even better when heard in conjunction with the more free-flowing tracks like "Alleluia" and "Be Our Gracious Host With Us." It's great. All-in-all, this extremely short (18 minutes), highly limited (to 23 copies) release is wholly satisfying. If church was like this, I might actually give it another go some day. But until then, let's reissue this please! Lovely. 8/10 --
